Head Brewer - Justin Hamilton
Born and raised right here in Albuquerque, Justin started his career in brewing by delivering kegs for the Blue Corn Café and Brewery in Santa Fe. After much hard work and persistence Head Brewer Daniel Jaramillo agreed to teach Justin how to brew. While mentoring under Daniel, Justin got a unique opportunity to work with Head Brewer Ted Rice at the Marble Brewery in downtown Albuquerque. Justin was employed full time at Marble when yet another opportunity arose to work with Head Brewer Jeff Erway here at the Chama River Brewing Company. For over a year, Justin was Assistant Brewer at two of the cities best breweries. During his years of experience Justin has helped his breweries win multiple awards, both local and national including 3 awards from the Great American Beer Festival. Justin is graduated from the American Brewers Guild in the summer of 2010.
At Chama River Brewing Co. Justin Hamilton and his assistant brewer Tim Woodward brew six house beers and rotate a variety of seasonal and specialty beers. We are confident that you will find no finer craft brewed ales or lagers anywhere.
Chama River is proud of its 5 barrel brewhouse and all of its capability. Our two kettle system serves us very well as our brewers produce in the neighborhood of 1,000-1,200 barrels each and every year. Each kettle serves double duty: Mash Tun/Lauter Tun and Boil Kettle/Whirlpool Kettle. Our brewers rely on eight fermenters, six 10 barrel fermenters and two 5 barrel fermenters, to get things really rolling. In the cold room, the brewers keep busy with their ten 10 barrel bright/server tanks and eight 5 barrel bright/server tanks. The grain silo seen from the parking lot is fully functional and delivers 2-row malted barley to our brewers. For more information about the brewery, feel free to speak with any of our staff.
